A weekly publication for the people doing the building.
Currently, I'm building YupMD.com, a healthcare company focused on helping people detect disease earlier, understand their health more deeply, and access care that's built around them, not the healthcare system.
I believe healthcare should be continuous instead of reactive, personal instead of standardized, and focused on helping people stay healthy rather than simply treating illness.
By the time the lessons get written down, they have been cleaned up, sequenced, and made to look inevitable. The doubt is edited out. The dead ends disappear. What is left reads like a straight line that was never actually straight.
Max's Maxims is written from the other side of that. From inside the work, while it is still uncertain. It is for the people who are in it now, making a hundred quiet decisions with half the information, who want to read something that sounds like the job actually feels.
Each issue takes one idea about building or operating and works it all the way through. Long enough to say something true, short enough to finish.
No recycled advice you have read a hundred times. One person, one moment, one decision, looked at closely enough to be useful.
A new issue weekly. Written to be read, then kept.
Founders, operators, and the people one layer below the title who actually run things. If you are building something, and the polished version of the story has never quite matched your experience of it, this is for you.
